OSA’s Founding Principles

OSA Mission Statement:

The mission of OSA, a non-profit 501(c)(6), is to unite and grow American soccer by building an authentic and affordable multi-tiered alliance of professional and amateur clubs and leagues who advocate for an open system that reflects the sport’s structure globally.

OSA Vision statement:

The vision of OSA is to create a national multi-tiered alliance of clubs and leagues controlled by its member teams that embrace the open system principles of sporting merit, solidarity, promotion and relegation, membership control and territorial freedom.

OSA Pillars:

The pillars of OSA are working with and supporting leagues and clubs that advocate open system tenets in a structure that offers significant prize money, reasonable revenue sharing, regional travel and affordable membership fees and annual dues.

OSA 11 Founding Principles:

  2. Provide fiscal oversight and assist with business success for all members and partners.
  3. Adapt to international league play (open system) throughout the world
  4. Advocate for all club ownership structures including fan ownership
  5. Emphasize affordable regional play
  6. Strategic brand engagement for partners across multiple levels of play
  7. Seek opportunities using prize money and revenue sharing to enhance growth
  8. Provide player and coach education offerings to address mental health
  9. Development opportunities for referees
  10. Maintain adherence to Professional League Standards
  11. Provide advancement opportunities for executives and leaders within our sport
